This beginner-level session will provide an overview of the Direct Loan Program with an emphasis on the operational process and the Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) System. We will also briefly discuss the role of Direct Loan Servicing. A perfect session for new Direct Loan schools or new staff at a Direct Loan school and a companion to Direct Loan Servicing Fundamentals.
Direct Loan Servicing Fundamentals
This beginner level session will provide an overview of the Direct Loan Program with an emphasis on the servicing process and the Direct Loan Servicing System and Web site. Learn about tools available to schools to assist your borrower and to manage your direct Loan Portfolio. We will cover some of the tools Direct Loan Servicing Web makes available to Direct Loan borrowers. A perfect session for new Direct Loan schools or new staff a Direct Loan school and a companion to the session Direct Loan Fundamentals.
Direct Loan Tools (Hands-on)
This session provides all schools with an introduction to the Direct Loan Tool software. Participants will walk through all major functions of the software using provided exercises and case studies and will learn how to use the software to better manage Direct Loan processing, especially reconciliation, at their school.

Enjoy looking for clues and solving mysteries? Searching for that one unbooked loan or trying to reconcile for the month? This session will unlock your best sleuthing tools: Direct Loan school reports. Learn about the available Direct Loan reports and how to get them. Learn how to use them to improve your Direct Loan processing, to reduce errors and fix problems, and to simplify reconciliation and closeout.
Title IV Funding to Schools: From COD through G5 (For Direct Loan schools)
This session covers the process of managing Title IV funding at schools from point of COD submissions through GAPS. The session will also cover how schools get cash, timeframes from record submission to funding, as well as Phase I of the newly enhanced GAPS (G5) and its improved drawdown functionality.
