Welcome
Higher education is a top priority for our nation and its future. In order to keep America competitive, we must provide students and families with more information and more affordable access to higher education.
U.S. Department of Education Secretary Margaret Spellings initiated a national dialogue on higher education when she convened the Commission on the Future of Higher Education in 2005. The Commission's findings prompted the Secretary to create an action plan to improve America's higher education system. A key component of that plan was convening a summit to bring many key players together to discuss the Commission's recommendations, our progress, and specific responsibilities and actions for the future.
Secretary Spellings invites you to join that discussion at her summit, "A Test of Leadership: Committing to Advance Post-Secondary Education for all Americans" on March 21-22, 2007 in Washington, D.C. Together, we can ensure America's future prosperity by making higher education more affordable, accessible, and accountable.
