Why are conferences scheduled around Thanksgiving and Christmas?
Due to budget constraints, Federal Student Aid books conferences during a time when it can get the most for the amount of money available. Because fewer conferences are booked during this time and travel volumes are down, hotels are often more willing to give us a discount during these times. This allows us to provide more services for you for the least amount of money.
Why do the hotel staff put out food and beverages for the break and not allow us to get coffee, etc. until a specific time?
Due to the large number of people at the conference, Federal Student Aid is making every effort to be fair to all of its participants. We understand that some sessions get out earlier and some later. By waiting until the said time, we are trying to ensure that all participants have an equal opportunity to participate in the free food and beverages that we are offering.
Why are there products containing nuts on the food carts? There are people who are allergic to nuts and this could make them sick.
Federal Student Aid has instructed the hotels to provide snacks that do not contain nuts. Should a snack be provided that contains nuts, the hotel has been instructed to provide signage so that participants do not accidently choose an item containing nuts. Because we do not have control over the preparation of these items, however, we cannot guarantee that all items are nut free.
